SAVANNAH is the result of a conversation between 4 people that started in a living room in South London.
It is a desire to find our way to work together, to create dialogue, to have a sense of community.
Starting with a text inspired by Nina Simone’s live introduction to Sunday in Savannah, the work expands outwards like a visual thesaurus.
A web of responses where each piece of work is inextricably linked to the others.
It is a conversation taking place through the artworks themselves and navigated through phones and computers, to overcome geographical distance.
It is an exploration of the ways in which we exchange information, as the world shifts to a more disposable image-based language.
SAVANNAH is an encyclopedia of where we are now.
A GJRL project. Created for Artlicks 2014. Exhibited at A_Space London.
